Chicken:
- 2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, or breasts)
Seasoning:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
BBQ Sauce:
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels.
- Season Chicken: In a large bowl, combine salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and olive oil. Rub mixture evenly over chicken.
- Preheat Grill: Preheat grill to medium heat (about 350–375°F).
- Prepare BBQ Sauce: In a small bowl, mix barbecue sauce, honey, and apple cider vinegar; set aside.
- Grill Chicken: Place chicken skin-side down on the grill and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, until browned.
- Finish Cooking: Move chicken to indirect heat, cover grill, and cook for 20–25 minutes, turning occasionally, until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Glaze with BBQ Sauce: Brush generously with BBQ sauce mixture during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
- Serve: Remove from grill, rest for 5 minutes, and serve with extra sauce on the side.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate chicken in half of the BBQ sauce mixture for 2–4 hours before grilling.
- This recipe can also be made in the oven—bake at 400°F for 35–40 minutes, basting with sauce during the last 10 minutes.
