Ingredients
Scale
For the tea:
- 4 cups water
- 3 black tea bags
- 4 more cups cold water
For the strawberry syrup:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional, for smoothness)
For garnish:
- Ice
- Fresh mint and strawberry slices
Instructions
- Prepare the tea: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add tea bags; steep for 5–7 minutes.
- Make the strawberry syrup: In a separate saucepan, combine the strawberries and sugar. Cook over medium heat until strawberries break down and form a syrup (about 10 minutes). Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve.
- Combine: Once the tea is steeped, remove the tea bags and stir in the strawberry syrup and baking soda if using. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir well.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice with fresh mint and sliced strawberries if desired.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness to your liking by adding more or less sugar.
- For a fizzier version, replace some of the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
