Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana (mashed)
- 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries (crushed)
- 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 cup almond butter or peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare the banana: In a large bowl, mash the ripe banana until it becomes smooth and creamy, providing the natural sweetness and binding base for your oat balls.
- Combine ingredients: Add the crushed freeze-dried strawberries, rolled oats, almond or peanut butter, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt into the mashed banana. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture sticks together.
- Form the oat balls: Using clean hands or a small cookie scoop, roll the mixture into 1-inch-sized balls, ensuring they’re tightly packed so they hold form well.
- Chill to set: Place the rolled oat balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and hold their shape better before serving.
- Store properly: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness and texture.
Notes
- If the mixture is too soft to roll, add additional oats one tablespoon at a time until it firms up.
- For a sweet twist, dip the finished oat balls in melted white chocolate and let them set.
- To accommodate nut allergies, swap almond butter with sunflower seed butter for a nut-free alternative.
