These Steakhouse Burger Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe, with savory ground beef cooked in a rich, tangy sauce and served on toasted buns with cheese, pickles, and crispy fried onions. Perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce (like A.1.)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • sliced pickles and crispy fried onions for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until softened.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Stir in garlic, salt, and pepper, and cook for another minute.
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, beef broth, and brown sugar. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm over toasted buns with cheese, pickles, and crispy fried onions.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use a blend of ground beef and ground chuck.
  • Make ahead and reheat before serving for convenience.
