Description

This flavorful Steak Sandwich recipe features tender, seasoned steak layered on a soft hoagie bun with caramelized onions, melted cheese, and optional toppings, creating a satisfying meal that’s perfect for lunch or dinner.

Steak:

  • 1 pound flank steak or ribeye, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Additional:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • 4 sandwich rolls or hoagie buns, split
  • 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • optional: mayonnaise, mustard, arugula, or horseradish sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season Steak: Preheat a grill or skillet. Rub steak with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Grill Steak: Grill or sear steak for 4–5 minutes per side. Rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thinly.
  3. Sauté Onions: Sauté onions (and bell peppers if using) until caramelized. Toast rolls if desired.
  4. Assemble Sandwiches: Layer steak, onions, and cheese on rolls. Broil briefly to melt cheese. Add optional toppings and serve.
