Steak:
- 1 pound flank steak or ribeye, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Additional:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- 4 sandwich rolls or hoagie buns, split
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- optional: mayonnaise, mustard, arugula, or horseradish sauce for serving
Instructions
- Preheat and Season Steak: Preheat a grill or skillet. Rub steak with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Grill Steak: Grill or sear steak for 4–5 minutes per side. Rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thinly.
- Sauté Onions: Sauté onions (and bell peppers if using) until caramelized. Toast rolls if desired.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Layer steak, onions, and cheese on rolls. Broil briefly to melt cheese. Add optional toppings and serve.
