Ingredients
Scale
Main Fritters:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
- vegetable oil for frying
Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Main Fritters: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In another bowl, combine milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F. Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying 2–3 at a time. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels.
- Vanilla Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over slightly cooled fritters and serve warm.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of nutmeg for extra warmth.
- For a thicker glaze, use less milk; for a thinner glaze, use more.
- Fritters are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
