Description

This Slow Cooker Ravioli Lasagna is a delightful and easy-to-make comfort food that combines layers of frozen ravioli, seasoned ground beef, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese. Perfect for a hands-off meal, this recipe uses a slow cooker to meld the flavors together over four hours, resulting in a hearty, satisfying dish that’s perfect for busy days or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 25 oz. frozen ravioli (do not thaw, 5 cheese variety recommended)
  • 1 lb. ground beef (can substitute with mild sausage)
  • 1 cup white onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried leaf oregano (not ground)
  • 24 oz. marinara sauce (Rao’s preferred)
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese (about 2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: In a medium non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Brown the meat thoroughly but leave a few tablespoons of the cooking liquid to keep the meat moist. Do not drain completely.
  2. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer the Ingredients: Pour half of the marinara sauce into the bottom of the slow cooker. Spread half of the frozen ravioli (do not thaw) evenly over the sauce. Next, evenly distribute all the cooked ground beef mixture over the ravioli. Add the remaining ravioli on top of the meat layer. Then pour the remaining marinara sauce over the ravioli.
  4. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the final layer.
  5. Cook: Cover with the slow cooker lid and cook on LOW for 4 hours, allowing the ravioli to cook through and the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve: After cooking, spoon portions onto plates and enjoy your delicious slow cooker ravioli lasagna.

Notes

  • Do not thaw the frozen ravioli before layering; they cook perfectly in the slow cooker.
  • Leaving some liquid in the cooked meat helps keep the dish moist and flavorful.
  • You can substitute ground beef with mild Italian sausage for a different flavor profile.
  • Use a non-stick spray on the slow cooker to make cleanup easier.
  • Check the slow cooker during cooking if it runs hot or cool to adjust time slightly.
