- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- Sauté vegetables: Add the finely chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add sauce ingredients: Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Simmer the mixture: Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
- Assemble and serve: Spoon the hot sloppy joe mixture onto toasted hamburger buns and serve immediately for a warm, comforting meal.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or smoked paprika to the sauce.
- This recipe also works well with ground turkey or plant-based meat substitutes.
