Scale
Whole Roasted Garlic:
- 1 or more whole heads of garlic
- 1 to 2 teaspoons olive oil per head
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the garlic: Peel away the loose outer layers of the garlic bulb, leaving the skins of the individual cloves intact. Slice about 1/4 inch off the top of the bulb to expose the tops of the cloves.
- Roasting: Place each head of garlic on a piece of foil, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt if desired. Wrap the foil around the garlic and place it on a baking sheet or in a muffin tin to keep it upright. Roast for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown and soft.
- Finishing: Let cool slightly, then squeeze the roasted garlic out of the skins. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Roasted garlic is perfect for spreading on bread, mixing into mashed potatoes, blending into dressings, or adding to pasta and soups.
