Description

This One-Pan Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken with Egg Noodles is a delicious and comforting meal perfect for busy weeknights. Tender chicken pieces are sautéed and combined with a rich garlic butter sauce, creamy chicken broth, and Parmesan cheese, all cooked together with wide egg noodles in one skillet for easy cleanup and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce and Pasta

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles (uncooked)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh)

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Season the bite-sized chicken pieces evenly with salt and pepper to enhance their flavor before cooking.
  2. Brown the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside to keep warm.
  3. Sauté garlic in butter: In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add liquids: Stir in the chicken broth and heavy cream, combining them with the garlic butter mixture to form the sauce base.
  5. Cook the noodles: Add the uncooked wide egg noodles to the pan, pressing them down into the liquid. Cover the skillet and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the noodles are tender and have absorbed much of the sauce.
  6. Combine chicken and cheese: Return the browned chicken to the pan. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and dried parsley. Mix until the sauce is creamy and evenly coats the chicken and noodles.
  7. Let it thicken and serve: Remove the skillet from heat and let the dish sit for 2 to 3 minutes to thicken slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve warm and enjoy this creamy, flavorful one-pan meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts for juicier meat.
  • Adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper according to taste.
  • Add steamed or sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for added nutrition.
  • Use gluten-free egg noodles to make the dish gluten-free.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a lower-fat cream alternative.
  • Make sure to stir occasionally when cooking noodles to prevent sticking and to ensure even cooking.
