Ingredients
Scale
Salmon Patties
- 1 (14.75 oz) can salmon, drained and flaked
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for frying
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, bell pepper (if using), beaten egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well incorporated.
- Form Patties. Shape the salmon mixture into 6 to 8 evenly sized patties, ensuring they hold together well for frying.
- Heat Skillet. Place a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil or butter, allowing it to warm up without smoking.
- Fry Patties. Carefully place the patties in the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they develop a golden-brown crust and are heated through.
- Drain Excess Oil. Transfer the cooked patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any remaining oil.
- Serve. Serve the salmon patties warm alongside tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor.
Notes
- Use crushed crackers as a gluten alternative to breadcrumbs if desired.
- For extra flavor, add fresh herbs like dill or parsley to the mix.
- Be gentle when flipping the patties to prevent them from breaking apart.
- These patties can also be baked at 375°F for about 15 minutes as a healthier option.
