Description

Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun and spooky twist on classic hot dogs, wrapped in crescent roll dough to resemble mummies. Perfect for Halloween parties or a themed snack, these hot dogs are baked until golden brown and served with mustard and ketchup.

Ingredients

Scale

Hot Dogs

  • 10 Hot Dogs

Dough

  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough

Other

  • Cooking spray
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Unravel the crescent roll dough and separate at the perforations. Form 4 rectangles by pressing the perforations together to seal.
  2. Prepare Dough Strips: Cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 thin strips. These strips will act as the mummy’s bandages when wrapped around the hot dogs.
  3. Wrap Hot Dogs: Take 4 dough strips for each hot dog and stretch them completely around the hot dog, leaving about a 1/2 inch space at the top to reveal the ‘face’ of the mummy. Repeat for all hot dogs to create the mummy look.
  4. Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on an ungreased cookie sheet. Lightly spray them with cooking spray to help achieve a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are hot throughout.
  6. Decorate and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Use two dots of mustard to create ‘eyes’ on each mummy hot dog. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure to leave the ‘face’ area uncovered for the eyes to be visible after baking.
  • Use cooking spray lightly to ensure dough crisps without sticking.
  • These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • Vegetarian or vegan hot dogs can be substituted for a different dietary preference.
