Ingredients
Scale
Eggs
- 12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved
Filling
- â…“ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle juice
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Garnish
- Crumbled bacon
- Paprika (sweet or smoked)
- Sliced sweet pickles
- Sliced green onions
Instructions
- Cook Eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the eggs simmer gently for 12 minutes.
- Cool Eggs: Immediately transfer the cooked eggs to a large bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process and make peeling easier. Let them cool completely and then peel the eggs carefully. Slice each egg in half lengthwise.
- Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks from the halved eggs with mayonnaise, melted butter, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, sweet pickle juice, hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mash the mixture with a fork or beat using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Fill Eggs: Using a spoon or a piping bag, fill each egg white half evenly with the creamy yolk mixture, ensuring the filling is nicely mounded or piped for an attractive presentation.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the deviled eggs with paprika and top with crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, and slices of sweet pickles. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. These are best enjoyed chilled.
Notes
- For perfectly cooked eggs, use fresh eggs and do not overcook to avoid greenish yolks.
- Pickle juice adds tang and moisture to the filling; feel free to adjust the quantity based on taste.
- You can substitute bacon for a vegetarian option by using smoked paprika and extra garnish toppings.
- Prepare eggs ahead of time and store separately from the filling to maintain freshness.
- Use a piping bag with a star tip for a decorative filling presentation.
