Description

These Meatball Sub Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring mini meatballs baked in crescent roll dough, topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese. Perfect for parties or snack time, they combine classic Italian flavors in bite-sized form.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatball Sub Bites

  • 12 small fully-cooked meatballs
  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into 12 triangles. Cut each triangle in half creating 24 smaller triangles.
  3. Form Cups: Press each small piece of dough into the bottom and sides of the mini muffin cups to form little dough cups.
  4. Add Sauce and Meatballs: Spoon a small amount of marinara sauce into each dough cup, then place one small meatball inside each.
  5. Top with Sauce and Cheese: Add a little more marinara sauce on top of each meatball, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over each one.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  7. Prepare Butter Topping: While baking, mix melted butter with Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
  8. Brush and Cool: Immediately after removing the bites from the oven, brush the butter and cheese mixture over the warm bites. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use turkey or plant-based meatballs for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Serve with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
