Description

Lasagna Pasta Skillet is a delicious and easy one-pan meal that combines all the flavors of classic lasagna in a quick stovetop recipe. Ground beef, Italian seasoning, and marinara sauce simmer with broken lasagna noodles before being topped with creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Garnished with fresh basil, this cheesy pasta skillet is perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Liquids and Pasta

  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles, broken into pieces

Cheeses

  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat and Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and diced onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add Seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Sauté the mixture for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Simmer with Sauce and Noodles: Pour in the marinara sauce and water. Add the broken lasagna noodles and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Cook the Noodles: Cover the skillet and let simmer over medium-low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the noodles are tender and cooked through.
  5. Add Cheeses: Remove the skillet from heat. Evenly dollop the ricotta cheese over the top, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Melt the Cheese: Cover the skillet again and let it sit for 5 minutes off the heat to allow the cheeses to melt and combine.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the cheesy skillet before serving. Enjoy hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the beef to change up the flavor.
  • For a creamier texture, stir the ricotta cheese into the sauce before topping with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
