Ingredients
Scale
Bread & Spreads
- 2 slices whole grain or sourdough bread (toasted if desired)
- 2 tablespoons honey mustard
- 1 teaspoon butter or mayonnaise (optional, for spreading on bread)
Sandwich Fillings
- 4–5 slices deli turkey breast
- 1 slice cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 avocado, sliced
- 2 slices tomato
- A handful of lettuce or baby spinach
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: If preferred, toast the slices of whole grain or sourdough bread until they reach your desired crispness. Optionally, spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice for added flavor and moisture.
- Apply Honey Mustard: Spread 2 tablespoons of honey mustard evenly on one or both slices of the bread to add a tangy sweetness that complements the sandwich fillings.
- Layer the Turkey: Arrange 4 to 5 slices of deli turkey breast over one slice of the bread to form the protein base of the sandwich.
- Add Cheese and Avocado: Place a slice of cheddar or Swiss cheese on top of the turkey. Then layer the sliced half avocado evenly over the cheese to add creaminess and healthy fats.
- Add Fresh Vegetables: Place 2 slices of tomato and a handful of lettuce or baby spinach over the avocado. Season lightly with salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Top with the second slice of bread, press down gently to compact the sandwich slightly, then cut it in half for easier eating.
- Serve: Serve the sandwich immediately with your choice of sides such as chips, a fresh salad, or a pickle for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use a multigrain or ciabatta roll instead of bread to add extra texture and flavor.
- Add thinly sliced red onion or crunchy sprouts for additional flavor and crunch.
- This sandwich can also be prepared as a panini or grilled sandwich for a warm, melty variation.
