Description

These Homemade Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring soft pizza dough topped with garlic butter, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Perfectly baked until golden and bubbly, they’re ideal for dipping in marinara sauce and making any meal a little more special.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Breadsticks

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For Garnish and Serving

  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Dough. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick and transfer it carefully onto the prepared baking sheet for an even bake.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Mixture. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the minced garlic, stirring to blend the flavors thoroughly.
  4. Brush Dough. Evenly brush the garlic butter mixture over the entire surface of the dough to infuse it with rich garlic flavor.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasoning. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly on top of the dough. Then, season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt to enhance the flavor profile.
  6. Bake. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  7. Cool Slightly and Slice. Remove the breadsticks from the oven and let them cool for 2–3 minutes, then slice into individual breadsticks using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
  8. Garnish and Serve. Optionally garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm alongside marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For crispier breadsticks, try baking them directly on a pizza stone instead of a baking sheet.
  • Using freshly shredded cheese helps the cheese melt smoother and more evenly compared to pre-shredded.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes on top before baking if you want a spicy kick.
