Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
- Blend in butter: Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cheese and herbs: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and herbs if using.
- Combine wet ingredients: Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until just combined.
- Shape and bake: Turn the dough out, cut out biscuits, place them on the baking sheet, and brush the tops with melted butter. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
