Ingredients
Scale
Noodles
- 8 ounces rice noodles or lo mein noodles
Beef and Vegetables
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 carrots, julienned
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set them aside to keep warm.
- Stir-fry the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
- Cook the vegetables: In the same skillet, add broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, julienned carrots, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp, maintaining their vibrant colors and crunch.
- Prepare the sauce: While the vegetables cook, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl until well combined.
- Combine beef and sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and veggies, stirring to coat everything evenly.
- Add the noodles: Toss the cooked noodles into the skillet, mixing thoroughly to combine all ingredients and heat through for another minute or so.
- Serve: Dish out the hoisin beef noodles and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can substitute beef sirloin or flank steak with chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your heat preference or omit for a milder dish.
- Use gluten-free soy sauce if you require a gluten-free meal.
- Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like snap peas or mushrooms to customize the stir-fry.
