Description

Indulge in the flavors of a Japanese steakhouse with this delicious hibachi chicken recipe. Tender chicken cooked to perfection in a savory sauce, served with optional yum yum sauce for an extra kick of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Dish:

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, diced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Yum Yum Sauce (optional):

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 12 tablespoons water (to thin as needed)
  • Dash of paprika

Instructions

  1. Main Dish: Heat sesame oil and butter in a large skillet or flat-top griddle over medium-high heat. Add diced chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes until starting to brown. Add garlic, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce (if using), ground ginger, and black pepper. Stir and cook for another 3–5 minutes until chicken is cooked through and sauce is slightly caramelized. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  2. Yum Yum Sauce: To make Yum Yum Sauce, whisk together all sauce ingredients until smooth. Adjust water for desired consistency and chill until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Serve with fried rice, steamed rice, or hibachi-style vegetables.
  • Substitute coconut aminos for soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
