Ingredients
- 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or preferred type)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/4 cup of the pasta water to use in the sauce.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Toss Pasta in Garlic Butter: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the mixture.
- Add Parmesan and Pasta Water: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and the reserved pasta water. Toss continuously to combine and achieve a creamy consistency. Add more pasta water if needed.
- Season and Garnish: Season the pasta with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
- Reserve some pasta water to help create a smooth and creamy sauce.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and texture.
- Be careful not to burn the garlic while sautéing as it can turn bitter.
- This recipe can easily be doubled to serve more people.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle heat variation.
