Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Seasonings
- 1 pound large shrimp (21 – 25 count per pound), peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
Butter
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
Instructions
- Heat Butter and Garlic: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the salted butter until it begins to foam. Add the minced garlic and stir continuously, cooking for about 30 seconds to release its aroma without burning.
- Cook Shrimp with Herbs: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Sprinkle the dried basil, dried oregano, lemon zest, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes over the shrimp. Stir to combine and cook the shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add Lemon and Parsley: Turn off the heat, then pour the fresh lemon juice over the shrimp. Sprinkle the freshly chopped parsley and gently toss to coat everything evenly. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture, but frozen shrimp can also work if properly thawed.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
- Serve with crusty bread, over pasta, or alongside steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Be careful not to overcook shrimp; they become tough if cooked too long.
- Fresh herbs can be substituted or complemented with dried ones if fresh is unavailable.
