Hot Dog Casserole:
- 8 hot dog buns
- 8 all-beef hot dogs
- 2 cups canned or homemade chili
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ¼ cup chopped red onion
- ¼ cup sliced pickled jalapeños (optional)
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange hot dog buns in the dish, place a hot dog in each.
- Layer Ingredients: Spoon chili over hot dogs, sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, add onions and jalapeños.
- Flavor and Bake: Mix butter and garlic, brush edges of buns. Drizzle with mustard and ketchup. Cover and bake for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley or green onions before serving.
