  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Coffee Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brewed espresso or strong coffee (cooled)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 teaspoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter: In a saucepan, melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Mix brownie batter: Whisk in sugars, eggs, vanilla, and coffee powder. Sift in flour, cocoa, and salt. Stir to combine.
  4. Bake: Pour batter into pan, bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool.
  5. Make frosting: Beat butter, add powdered sugar, coffee, vanilla, and milk for consistency.
  6. Frost brownies: Spread frosting over cooled brownies. Slice and serve.
