Description

Dollywood Cinnamon Bread is a sweet, pull-apart bread filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet glaze. This delightful treat combines soft bread dough with a rich cinnamon-sugar coating, brown sugar topping, and smooth powdered sugar icing, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread:

  • 1 lb. Frozen Bread Dough (thawed)
  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar (for topping)
  • 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (melted)

For the Icing:

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 – 3 Tbsp Milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan for Baking: Spray a loaf pan lightly with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Lightly spray the inside of the parchment paper to keep it in place during baking.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Place the thawed frozen bread dough in the parchment-lined loaf pan. Let it thaw completely according to package instructions, usually between 4-7 hours.
  3. Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon to create the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Set aside.
  4. Cut the Dough: Using a sharp knife, slice 5-6 horizontal slits about half the depth across the top of the dough. These slits allow the bread to pull apart easily after baking.
  5. Coat with Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the melted butter generously over the top and inside the slits of the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture liberally over the dough to coat thoroughly, especially inside the slits.
  6. Top and Rise: Place the loaf pan in a warm spot and let the dough rise for 30 minutes. After rising, sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar evenly over the top of the dough.
  7. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until it is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
  9. Prepare the Icing: While the bread is baking, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons milk in a bowl. Adjust milk to reach your desired icing consistency.
  10. Finish and Serve: Remove the baked bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the prepared icing over the warm bread. Serve warm, pulling apart each piece for a delicious sweet treat.

Notes

  • Using parchment paper with a cooking spray underneath helps keep the paper in place and makes it easier to remove the bread after baking.
  • Thaw the frozen bread dough fully before baking to ensure proper rising and texture.
  • Adjust milk in the icing to make it thicker or thinner based on your preference.
  • The bread is best served warm for that soft, gooey cinnamon-sugar experience.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
