Turkey:
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds), thawed if frozen, neck and giblets removed
Seasoned Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Stuffing:
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 head garlic, halved
- 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
Additional:
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare Turkey: Pat turkey dry, place on rack in roasting pan.
- Make Seasoned Butter: Mix butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and paprika.
- Season Turkey: Rub half of butter mixture under turkey skin and the rest over the outside.
- Stuff Turkey: Fill cavity with lemon, onion, garlic, and herbs. Tie legs and tuck wings.
- Roast: Pour broth in pan, roast turkey for 3-3.5 hours, basting every 45 minutes.
- Rest and Serve: Let turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
