- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium carrot, diced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
For the Pastry:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Sauté onions and garlic: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Cook the beef: Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Stir in carrot, peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Thicken the filling: Sprinkle in flour, stir well, and let the mixture simmer until thickened.
- Prepare the pastry: Roll out puff pastry and line a pie dish. Fill with the meat mixture and cover with more pastry. Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and puffed. Let it rest before serving.

- You can use ground lamb or turkey instead of beef.
