Description

Indulge in these decadent Dark Chocolate Coffee Truffles for a rich and creamy treat that combines the bold flavors of dark chocolate and espresso. These luxurious truffles are perfect for gifting or savoring as a special dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffles:

  • 8 ounces dark chocolate (70% cacao or higher, finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder or finely ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Coating:

  • Cocoa powder or finely ground coffee (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Truffle Mixture: Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream, butter, and espresso powder. Heat over medium heat until just simmering, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  2. Chill and Shape: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 1–2 hours, or until firm enough to scoop. Once firm, use a small cookie scoop or spoon to portion the truffle mixture and roll into balls with your hands.
  3. Coat the Truffles: Roll each truffle in cocoa powder or ground coffee to coat. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • You can add a splash of coffee liqueur for an extra kick.
  • For variety, roll truffles in crushed nuts or shaved chocolate instead of cocoa powder.
