Description

This Crockpot Angel Chicken recipe is a creamy, comforting dish perfect for busy days. Tender chicken breasts are slow-cooked in a luscious sauce made from cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, butter, and Italian dressing mix, then served over delicate angel hair pasta for a satisfying family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Aromatics

  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped or left whole

Sauce

  • 10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • ¾ cup chicken stock
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 0.6 ounces Italian dressing mix (Good Seasons recommended)

Pasta

  • 1 pound angel hair pasta

Instructions

  1. Prep the Crockpot: Spray the inside of the crockpot with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add Chicken and Garlic: Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts and garlic cloves directly into the prepared crockpot.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Then whisk in the cream of chicken soup, Italian dressing mix, and chicken stock until the sauce is well combined and creamy.
  4. Pour Sauce Over Chicken: Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Cook the Chicken: Cover the crockpot and cook on the low setting for 6 to 8 hours until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  6. Optional Shredding: About 30 minutes before the cook time is complete, shred the chicken breasts with two forks to allow the meat to soak in the sauce more thoroughly. Continue cooking until done.
  7. Cook the Pasta: Just before the chicken finishes cooking, prepare the angel hair pasta according to the package instructions. Drain well.
  8. Serve: Plate the cooked pasta and top with the tender chicken and creamy sauce from the crockpot. Serve hot for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, reduce the amount of chicken stock slightly or cook the sauce uncovered for the last 30 minutes.
  • You can substitute ranch dressing mix for the Italian dressing mix for a different flavor profile.
  • Leftovers store well refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Shredding the chicken is optional but helps the flavors meld better into the meat and sauce.
  • Angel hair pasta cooks quickly, so keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking.
