Description

Crispy Baked Parmesan Garlic Fries are a savory and flavorful side dish featuring thinly cut russet potatoes baked to golden perfection. Tossed with garlic, herbs, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese, these fries have a crispy exterior and tender interior. Ideal as a snack or pairing with burgers and sandwiches, they offer a delicious homemade alternative to traditional fries.

Ingredients

Scale

Potatoes

  • 4 medium russet potatoes (peeled or unpeeled, cut into thin fries)

Seasonings & Toppings

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Soak the Potatoes: Soak the cut potato fries in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This step helps achieve extra crispiness when baked.
  3. Dry the Fries: Drain the potatoes thoroughly and pat them dry with kitchen towels to remove all moisture, which is essential for crispiness.
  4. Toss with Seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the fries with olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat all fries evenly.
  5. Arrange for Baking: Spread the fries out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet without overcrowding to ensure even crisping.
  6. Bake the Fries: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, flip the fries to the other side and continue baking for another 15–20 minutes until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Add Parmesan and Garnish: Remove fries from the oven, immediately toss them with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley if using. This helps the cheese melt slightly and enhances flavor.
  8. Serve: Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy your crispy baked Parmesan garlic fries.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, place the fries on a wire rack set over the baking sheet to allow air circulation underneath.
  • You can substitute Parmesan cheese with Pecorino Romano for a saltier flavor.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick if desired.
