Ingredients
Scale
Dough:
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
Filling:
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup salsa
Toppings:
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- Diced tomatoes, for garnish
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
- Chopped cilantro (optional), for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a standard muffin tin to prevent sticking.
- Shape the dough cups: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Press each triangle firmly into the bottom and up the sides of each muffin cup to create a cup shape ready to hold the filling.
- Cook the ground beef: In a skillet set over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease to keep the cups from becoming soggy.
- Add seasoning and simmer: Stir in the taco seasoning and water with the cooked beef. Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld.
- Fill the crescent cups: Spoon the savory taco meat evenly into each crescent roll cup, filling them generously but not overflowing.
- Add cheese and salsa: Top each cup with a small spoonful of salsa and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top to melt during baking.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Cool and garnish: Remove the taco cups from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Once warm, top each cup with a dollop of sour cream, diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro if using. Serve immediately for best flavor.
