Description

Crescent Roll Taco Cups are a fun and easy-to-make appetizer or kid-friendly dinner option that combines savory taco-seasoned ground beef, melty cheddar cheese, and flaky crescent dough baked to golden perfection. Topped with fresh sour cream, diced tomatoes, green onions, and cilantro, these mini taco cups offer a delightful Mexican-inspired flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling:

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup salsa

Toppings:

  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Diced tomatoes, for garnish
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish
  • Chopped cilantro (optional), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a standard muffin tin to prevent sticking.
  2. Shape the dough cups: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Press each triangle firmly into the bottom and up the sides of each muffin cup to create a cup shape ready to hold the filling.
  3. Cook the ground beef: In a skillet set over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease to keep the cups from becoming soggy.
  4. Add seasoning and simmer: Stir in the taco seasoning and water with the cooked beef. Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld.
  5. Fill the crescent cups: Spoon the savory taco meat evenly into each crescent roll cup, filling them generously but not overflowing.
  6. Add cheese and salsa: Top each cup with a small spoonful of salsa and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top to melt during baking.
  7. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  8. Cool and garnish: Remove the taco cups from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Once warm, top each cup with a dollop of sour cream, diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro if using. Serve immediately for best flavor.
