Ingredients
Scale
Pasta & Protein
- 12 oz (340g) penne pasta
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, thinly sliced
Vegetables & Aromatics
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings & Sauces
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the pan: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the steak and veggies.
- Sear the steak: Add the thinly sliced sirloin steak to the hot pan. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and optional red chili flakes. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté garlic and peppers: In the same pot, add minced garlic, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and aromatic.
- Cook pasta in broth: Pour in 2 cups of beef broth and bring to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has reduced.
- Create creamy sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and lemon juice. Mix well until the sauce becomes creamy and smooth.
- Combine steak and simmer: Return the seared steak to the pot with the creamy pasta mixture. Stir to combine and let simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to meld flavors and heat through.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the pot from heat. Garnish the dish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot for a comforting, flavorful meal.
Notes
- For extra heat, increase the red chili flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.
- Use any pasta shape you prefer; adjust cooking time accordingly.
- Be sure not to overcook the pasta; it should be al dente for best texture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reduce calories, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or evaporated milk (may alter creaminess).
