Description

This Creamy Tuna Noodle Bake is a comforting and easy-to-make casserole featuring tender egg noodles, flaky tuna, sweet peas, and a creamy mushroom sauce. Baked to perfection with a cheesy golden crust, it’s a wholesome meal perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta and Protein

  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, drained

Vegetables

  • 1 cup frozen peas

Sauce and Dairy

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup sour cream or mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • ½ cup milk

Seasonings

  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Cook Noodles: Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, frozen peas, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream or mayonnaise, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to create a creamy mixture.
  4. Add Noodles: Fold the cooked noodles into the tuna mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Assemble in Baking Dish: Pour the noodle and tuna mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole for a golden, cheesy crust.
  7. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until the casserole is bubbling hot and the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool slightly before serving to allow it to set.

Notes

  • You can substitute sour cream with mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for different flavor variations.
  • Adding breadcrumbs on top before baking can create a crunchy topping.
  • For added nutrition, consider mixing in some chopped spinach or mushrooms.
  • Use canned tuna packed in water for a lighter dish or in oil for a richer flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
