Main Casserole:
- 1 (30 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- ½ cup melted unsalted butter
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Optional Topping:
- 1 cup crushed cornflakes or Ritz crackers
- 2 tablespoons melted butter for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine hash browns, cheese, sour cream, soup, melted butter, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Spread Mixture: Spread the mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Add Topping: For a topping, mix crushed cornflakes or crackers with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until hot, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
- Serve: Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
