Description

Bunny Bait is a fun and colorful snack mix perfect for springtime or Easter celebrations. This sweet and salty treat combines freshly popped popcorn, crunchy pretzel sticks, and pastel-colored milk and white chocolate M&M’s, all coated with creamy white and pink candy melts for a festive and irresistible crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn Mixture

  • 2 standard-size bags of Simply Salted or Tender White popcorn (Orville Redenbacher brand recommended)
  • 2 cups broken pretzel sticks
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) milk chocolate M&M’s (pastel colored)
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) white chocolate M&M’s (pastel colored)

Candy Coating

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) white candy coating
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) pink candy coating

Instructions

  1. Pop and Prepare Popcorn: Pop the popcorn according to the package directions. Quickly divide the popcorn evenly between two extra-large bowls. Remove any unpopped kernels to ensure no hard bits in the mix. Then, evenly divide the broken pretzel sticks, milk chocolate M&M’s, and white chocolate M&M’s between the two bowls. Toss the mixture gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  2. Melt White Candy Coating and Coat Mixture: Melt the white candy coating according to the package instructions until smooth and fully melted. Gradually drizzle the melted white candy coating over both bowls of the popcorn mixture while tossing continuously to coat everything evenly. This step takes about a minute to ensure all pieces are well covered.
  3. Set the Mixture and Add Pink Coating: Line two large baking sheets with parchment or wax paper. Quickly pour the warm, coated popcorn mixtures evenly onto the prepared sheets. Allow them to stand for 10 to 15 minutes to set slightly. Meanwhile, melt the pink candy coating according to package instructions until smooth. Drizzle the pink candy coating evenly over the tops of the popcorn mixtures on the baking sheets. Let the mixtures sit for another 10 to 15 minutes until the coating fully sets. Once set, break the mixture into bite-sized clusters and serve.

Notes

  • Be sure to remove unpopped kernels to avoid any hard, unpleasant bites.
  • Work quickly when spreading the candy-coated popcorn as the coatings set fairly fast.
  • Use parchment or wax paper on baking sheets to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Store leftover Bunny Bait in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
