Description

Indulge in the delightful combination of tender asparagus, creamy goat cheese, and flaky puff pastry with this Asparagus and Goat Cheese Tart recipe. Perfect for a springtime appetizer or a light main course, this savory tart is sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface into a 10×14-inch rectangle. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and score a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  3. Make the cheese mixture: In a bowl, combine goat cheese, ricotta, lemon zest, lemon juice, thyme, salt, and pepper. Spread this mixture inside the scored border on the pastry.
  4. Add asparagus: Arrange asparagus spears on top of the cheese mixture, alternating directions. Brush pastry edges with beaten egg, drizzle asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until pastry is golden and asparagus is tender.
  6. Serve: Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For added richness, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the asparagus before baking.
  • Variation: Substitute asparagus with zucchini ribbons or roasted red peppers.
