These Asian Turkey Meatballs are a flavorful twist on a classic dish, combining the lean protein of turkey with traditional Asian flavors. Baked to perfection and glazed with a savory soy sauce mixture, these meatballs are perfect as a main course or appetizer.
Ingredients
Main Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional)
For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the sauce:
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, panko, egg, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Mix until combined. Scoop and roll into meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 16–18 minutes or until fully cooked and golden.
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. Simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry. Cook until the sauce thickens. Toss the baked meatballs in the warm sauce until coated.
Notes
- Serve with rice or noodles and steamed veggies for a full meal.
- These also make a great appetizer with toothpicks and a drizzle of extra sauce.
- You can use ground chicken instead of turkey if desired.
