Onions:
- 4 large sweet onions (such as Vidalia), peeled and halved crosswise
Cream Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup grated Asiago cheese, divided
Garnish:
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a medium baking dish.
- Prepare onions: Arrange onion halves cut-side up in the dish.
- Make cream sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, add cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, white pepper, salt. Simmer, then stir in 1/2 cup Asiago until smooth.
- Coat onions: Pour cream mixture over onions, cover with foil, and bake for 35–40 minutes until tender.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup Asiago over onions, bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until golden.
- Serve: Rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired.
