Dough:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- nonstick cooking spray
- caramel or chocolate sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 tbsp sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Stir in flour all at once until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in egg and vanilla extract until smooth. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes. Pipe dough into the air fryer basket, cutting with scissors.
- Spray lightly with cooking spray and air fry for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Toss warm churro bites in the mixture.
- Serve immediately with caramel or chocolate sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, chill piped dough in the fridge for 15 minutes before air frying.
- Best served warm as they soften when stored.
