Ingredients

Dough:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • caramel or chocolate sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 tbsp sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in flour all at once until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract until smooth. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes. Pipe dough into the air fryer basket, cutting with scissors.
  5. Spray lightly with cooking spray and air fry for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Toss warm churro bites in the mixture.
  7. Serve immediately with caramel or chocolate sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, chill piped dough in the fridge for 15 minutes before air frying.
  • Best served warm as they soften when stored.
